The Jacksonville Icemen have acquired goaltender Austin Lotz, the club announced on Tuesday.
Lotz (6'-1", 180 lbs) brings ECHL experience to Jacksonville. In 2016-17, the St. Adolphe, Manitoba native played in two games for the Reading Royals, collecting two wins while posting a 2.50 GAA and a .919 SV%. Prior to his brief time in Reading, the 22-year-old was a member of the Rapid City Rush. With the Rush, Lotz recorded a 4.88 GAA and a .847 SV% in 11 games.
From 2011-15, Lotz played for the Everett Silvertips in the WHL. In 164 appearances with the Washington-based junior team, Lotz had a 3.21 GAA and a .900 SV%. The goalie then finished his junior career with the Medicine Hat Tigers, playing in six games and ending with a 3.33 GAA and a .898 SV%.
The Icemen have also announced that forward Tyler Coulter has left the team to pursue an educational opportunity.
The Jacksonville Icemen face off against the Atlanta Gladiators on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 7:05 p.m. After a three-game road trip, the team returns home to play the Manchester Monarchs on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to celebrate Star Wars Night with the Icemen on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. as the Greenville Swamp Rabbits come to town.
