Icemen Host Swamp Rabbits on Faith & Family Weekend

The Jacksonville Icemen (13-23-3-2, 31 pts) kick off Faith & Family Weekend against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (18-20-3-1,  40 pts) tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Tonight's meeting is the fifth between the two teams, with the Icemen winning the past two games against the Swamp Rabbits. Greenville has dropped to fifth place in the South Division as they have lost eight of their last nine games.

Additionally, the Swamp Rabbits are coming off their worst loss of the season, as they fell 8-1 at home to the Norfolk Admirals. In just 93 seconds, the Admirals scored three times on goalie Ty Rimmer. Zoltan Hetenyi quickly entered the game, eventually allowing five goals in his second appearance for the Swamp Rabbits this season.

Jacksonville faced one of its toughest offensive challenges on Wednesday against the Stingrays, but the team managed to pull through with a 1-0 win on only 10 shots on goal. Garet Hunt scored the game-winning goal on the power play against, statistically, the best penalty-killing club in the ECHL.

Now, the Icemen host the Swamp Rabbits, who have the worst penalty kill in the entire league. However, Jacksonville has gone 0-12 this season on the power play against Greenville. Look for special teams to play a large role in tonight's game.

Austin Lotz is coming off his second shutout in the 2017-18 season, presented by Community First Credit Union. His first shutout came against the Swamp Rabbits on the road on Dec. 22.

It's not too late to get your tickets to tonight's game and postgame concert with American Idol star, Colton Dixon. Click here to get your seats today!
