The Jacksonville Icemen, proud affiliate of the NHL Winnipeg Jets and AHL Manitoba Moose, today announced the return of forward Eli Lichtenwald.
“Eli adds a lot of size up the middle at center. He had a great college career but unfortunately, got hurt last season,” said Coach Jason Christie. “It’s a big summer for him to get stronger and we’re excited to have him back.”
The 6-foot-6, 235-pound forward began his rookie season in Pensacola with the Ice Flyers (Southern Professional Hockey League) before joining the Icemen midway through the club's inaugural season. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native skated in 35 games for Jacksonville recording 8 points (3G, 5A). Prior to turning pro, Lichtenwald spent four seasons with Union College where he collected 44 points (24G, 20A) in 129 games.
“I really enjoyed my time in Jacksonville last season—everyone from my teammates, our coaches, the team staff, and the passionate fans made it an easy decision to return,” said Lichtenwald. “I’m excited to put on an Icemen jersey again and build off the success we began to have in the second half of the season.”
The Icemen open the 2018-2019 season, presented by Community First Credit Union, at home on Saturday, October 13th against the South Carolina Stingrays. Single-game tickets go on sale in September and season tickets can be purchased here.
