The Jacksonville Icemen, in conjunction with its AHL affiliate, The Manitoba Moose Hockey Club, today announced the Moose have signed former Icemen defenseman Justin Woods and forward Matt Ustaski to one-year agreements.
Woods, 24, joined the Icemen late in the 2017-2018 campaign fresh off a successful collegiate career with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (NCAA) where he accumulated 47 points (18G, 29A) in 133 games. The Fairbanks, AK native posted seven points (3G, 4A) and a plus-three rating in just eight games for the Icemen. He signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Moose shortly after, where he saw action in one game.
Ustaski, 24, skated in 14 games for Jacksonville this season accumulating seven points (5G,2A). Hailing from Glenview, IL, Ustaski also joined the Icemen late in the season following a collegiate career with the University of Wisconsin (NCAA) where he tallied 22 points (13G, 9A) in 100 games. After the Icemen season ended, Ustaski signed a professional tryout with the Moose and skated in one game for the club. He was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in round seven (#192 overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.
