The Jacksonville Icemen, proud affiliate of the NHL Winnipeg Jets and AHL Manitoba Moose, today announced the addition of defenseman Garret Cockerill and forward Alexandre Ranger. The Icemen have waived forward Tyler Coulter.
Cockerill, 24, is entering his second professional season. The 6-foot, 210-pound defenseman spent 8 games with the Kalamazoo Wings last season before being loaned to the Cleveland Monsters (AHL) where he recorded 14 points (3G, 11A) and a minus-4 rating in 40 games. The Brighton, MI native began the 2018-19 season with the Monsters before joining the Icemen.Jacksonville also added a forward to the roster, claiming Alexandre Ranger off waivers from Orlando on the eve of the teams' first meeting of the 2018-19 season. The LaSalle, Quebec product notched 23 points (7G, 16A) in 47 games with the Tulsa Oilers last season. The 23-year-old previously played for Icemen head coach Jason Christie in Tulsa in 2016.
The Icemen welcome the Orlando Solar Bears for the second game of the season on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET at Veterans Memorial Arena. Twenty percent of ticket sales will be donated to the American Red Cross of North Florida to aid those affected by Hurricane Michael. Tickets: jaxicemen.com/redcross
