About Tonight’s Game: Tonight’s ECHL South Division match-up features the Jacksonville Icemen and the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. The two teams meet for the second time in as many nights following a 3-2 shootout win by Jacksonville last night. With the win, the Icemen (66 pts) are now tied for second place in the South Division with the Orlando Solar Bears (66 pts). In addition, the Icemen separated themselves further from fourth place South Carolina (57 pts) and are now ten points up on fifth place Atlanta (56 pts)
Series History: Tonight’s contest marks the seventh of nine meetings between the two teams this season. Jacksonville leads the season series 5-1-0. The Icemen lead the All-Time Series 10-6-0.
About the Icemen: Goaltender Ken Appleby picked up his fifth win of the season last night. A goal scored by Greenville’s Brendan Harms at 9:52 of the second period in Friday’s game broke up a shutout sequence by Appleby of 139 minutes and seven seconds (139:07) that began back on February 24….Cody Fowlie recorded his 18th goal of the season last night and now has recorded a point in 14 of his last 17 games. Fowlie has accrued 21 points during this stretch…Forward Christophe Lalancette is currently riding a four-game point and assists streak (4a)….The Icemen have killed off 42 consecutive opponent power plays and remain first in the league on the penalty kill at 87.4-percent.
About the Swamp Rabbits: Michael Pelech’s four-game point streak came to an end last night, but Pelech remains as the team’s leading scorer with 54 points and a team best 39 assists….Austen Brassard is tied for the team lead in goals with 20. Five of Brassard’s goals this season have come against Jacksonville.…Forward Tyler Bird has posted points in each of the three games he has played for Greenville since being acquired in a trade from Reading (1g, 3a).
Tonight’s Promotions: Tonight is Nickelodeon Night, and the Icemen will wear specialty themed jerseys inspired by the network’s hit TV show Paw Patrol. The jerseys will be auctioned off following the game. Tonight is also Pucks & Paws night and many of our furry fans will be on hand!
Tomorrow’s Game: The Icemen are at home again on Sunday against the Atlanta Gladiators beginning at 3:00 p.m. Youth Sports Weekend continues in another Publix Funday game. Nearly 18 mascots will also be on hand to play broom ball during the intermission.
