JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Icemen, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets and AHL’s Manitoba Moose announced Thursday that the team has acquired defenseman Clay Anderson off waivers from the Kansas City Mavericks.
Anderson, 25, joins the Icemen after making seven appearances with the Mavericks this season. Anderson opened the 2018-19 season with the Milton Keynes Lightning of the EIHL posting nine points (1g, 8a) with 55 penalty minutes in 52 games played.
The 6-0, 195-pound blueliner played last season in Denmark, where he recorded 24 points (7g, 17a) in 50 games played with the Aalborg Pirates. Anderson helped lead Aalborg to a Danish Cup Championship. The Omaha, Nebraska native played four seasons at Harvard University from 2013-2017 winning two ECAC championships and totaling 44 career points (7g, 37a) in 126 career games.
The Icemen are back in action on Sunday (March 17) at Grenville. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. Fans can now follow the team on the road on the Icemen Broadcast Network for free on Mixlr and on ECHL.TV on a subscription basis.
