JACKSONVILLE, FL – Adam Carlson stopped 34 of 35 shots faced to secure a 2-1 victory for the Icemen over the Indy Fuel at Veterans Memorial Arena Wednesday evening.
After being held off the scoreboard on Saturday, it took the Icemen just over a minute to score their first goal Wednesday. Following a faceoff win, Everett Clark snapped a shot from the slot that clipped past the reaching glove of Chase Marchand for the goal to put Jacksonville on top 1-0.
Indy outshot Jacksonville 13-6 in the opening period, but Jacksonville goaltender Adam Carlson turned aside all shots thrown his direction. The Icemen later tacked on a second tally with 34 seconds remaining in the period. Following a delayed penalty on Indy, the Icemen worked the puck to Brendan Warren who slipped a low shot past Marchand to put the Icemen ahead 2-0.
Indy used its third power play of the game to get on the board. Spencer Watson’s shot from up high was tipped and redirected into the net by Matthew Thompson who pulled the Fuel within one just before the second break.
Indy continued to push the pace in the third, outshooting the Icemen 10-2 in the period, but Carlson continued his dominance and secured the tight 2-1 victory for Jacksonville.
