Icemen Bring Back Veteran Forward Matheson Iacopelli

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Icemen, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Matheson (Matt) Iacopelli for the 2023-24 Season.  

Iacopelli, 29, returns to the Icemen where he posted eight points (4g, 4a) in 12 regular season games with the Icemen while also adding an additional four goals during the 2023 Kelly Cup Playoffs.  The Icemen acquired Iacopelli on March 14 via trade with the Kalamazoo Wings. Prior to joining the Icemen, Iacopelli had recorded 29 points (16g, 13a) in 46 games with Kalamazoo. 

The 6-3, 210-pound forward has totaled 123 points (72g, 61a) in 191 ECHL appearances with split between the Icemen, Kalamazoo, the Indy Fuel and Manchester Monarchs. 

Iacopelli also possesses American Hockey League experience, having totaled 27 points (14g, 13a) in 85 contests played with the Rockford IceHogs from 2016-2019. 

The Woodhaven, Michigan resident played collegiately at Western Michigan University, and was a standout player with the USHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks where he accrued 101 points with 64 goals in 114 games. 

Iacopelli becomes the first player to agree to terms with the Icemen for the 2023-24 season.
