JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Icemen, proud ECHL Affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and the AHL’s Iowa Wild, announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Bennett MacArthur for the 2026-27 season.
MacArthur, 25, played 42 games for the Icemen last season and garnered 36 points (13 goals, 23 assists) for his best statistical season in the ECHL before an injury cut his year short. Now entering his fifth season in the ECHL, MacArthur was acquired by the Icemen in 2025 when the Buffalo Sabers, then Jacksonville’s NHL affiliate, acquired his rights from the Pittsburgh Penguins. MacArthur became an unrestricted free agent in 2025 at the conclusion of his 3-year entry-level contract originally signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
A 6-0, 194-pound forward, MacArthur previously played with the Wheeling Nailers and Orlando Solar Bears in the ECHL as well as the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL from 2022-2025. MacArthur currently boasts 126 points in 214 ECHL games, bringing a wealth of experience to the Icemen this season. Before starting his professional career, the Summerside, Prince Edward Island native played Canadian Major-Junior hockey with Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) from 2020-2022 boasting 129 points (78 goals, 51 assists) in 120 games.
