Around the World with Wacey Rabbit

Wacey Rabbit is the newest addition to the Jacksonville Icemen, and this center has a world of experience. Literally.

Rabbit has previously played hockey for six different countries.

Canada

The Lethbridge, Alberta native started right at home in Canada with the Calgary Northstars Midget AAA in 2001. That same year, he began playing with the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL, who he played for until 2006. During his time with the Blades, he scored 80 goals and 106 assists. In 2006, Rabbit moved to the Vancouver Giants, where he had 11 goals and 25 assists in 30 games.

U.S.A.

He played with his first team in the United States when he was summoned the Providence Bruins of the AHL in 2006 (affiliate for the Boston Bruins).  He played with them for two and a half seasons, and then signed with the Milwaukee Admirals (affiliate for the Nashville Predators). For the 2011-12 season, Rabbit joined the San Antonio Rampage (affiliate for the Florida Panthers), and then later had a stint with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL for three games. That was the last time Rabbit was with a team in the United States before joining Jacksonville. During his AHL career, Rabbit scored 36 goals and 59 assists.

Croatia

In 2010, the 5'10" center spent a season with Medvescak Zagreb in Croatia - a part of the EBEL (Erste Bank Hockey League). He played in 53 games and totaled 12 goals and 37 assists.

Norway

Rabbit's time in Norway consisted of three seasons with Lorenskog, where he helped them to the playoffs all three years. Rabbit played in 118 games over his Norwegian career and scored 46 goals and 85 assists.

Japan

Rabbit had the experience of joining the Asia League to play for the Nippon Paper Cranes in Kushiro City in Hokkaido, Japan. He scored 7 goals and had 34 assists.

Italy

In Italy, Rabbit played for Pustertal/Val Pusteria for 36 games last season. He scored 20 goals and 15 assists.

So watch out, Pitbull. There's a new "Mr. Worldwide", and he now plays for the Jacksonville Icemen.

See Wacey Rabbit's colorful career return to the United States on Saturday, October 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Jacksonville Veteran's Memorial Arena.
