JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Icemen announced Monday that forward Matt Filipe and defenseman Jack Ahcan have been recalled by the Boston Bruins (NHL).
Filipe, 23, appeared in three games with the Icemen this season recording a goal and an assist. The 6-2, 205-pound forward posted 75 points (31g, 44a) in 136 career games at Northeastern University from 2016-2020. The Newton, Massachusetts resident was originally drafted by Carolina Hurricanes in the third round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, but is under contract with the Boston Bruins for the 2020-21 season. Ahcan, 23, appeared in two games with the Icemen this season. The 5-9, 185-pound blueliner totaled 103 points (21g, 82a) in four seasons at St. Cloud State University from 2016-2020. The Savage, Minnesota resident won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2017 U20 World Junior Championships. Ahcan is under contract with Boston for the 2020-21 season.
