JACKSONVILLE, FL – The comeback effort fell short on Saturday night for the Jacksonville Icemen (3-3-3) who fell to the Florida Everblades (7-1-0) by a score of 4-1 at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday night. Adam McMaster was the lone goal-scorer for the Jacksonville Icemen while goaltender Cameron Rowe made 24 saves on 27 Florida Shots. The Icemen sent 26 shots on goal over the course of the evening.
FIRST PERIOD
The Icemen started strong in the first period, aided by a few power plays and earned numerus chances. However, they could not find the back of the net. Instead it was Florida who scored twice, once on even strength and the other on the power play to take a 2-0 lead after the first period.
SECOND PERIOD
Jacksonville found the back of the net on the power play in the second period as a quick touch pass from the left-wing side by Tanner Kelly found Adam McMaster in the slot who quickly rifled a shot into the back of the net to trim the Florida lead to one. Just like Friday night, the Icemen trailed by a single goal entering the third period.
THIRD PERIOD
Unlike Friday night, the Icemen were unable to take advantage of their chances to tie the game up and instead it was the Everblades who capitalized with a key goal early in the third period to re-establish the two-goal lead and an empty-net goal after a shattered Jacksonville stick denied the Icemen a quality chance to pull within one with the goaltender pulled. As a result, Jacksonville’s four-game point streak ended with one more matchup to go on Sunday against the Everblades.
