JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Icemen, proud ECHL Affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and the AHL’s Iowa Wild, announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Zane Demsey for the 2026-27 season.
Demsey, 24, will make his professional debut with the Icemen this season after four years of college hockey at the NCAA Division I level. Demsey played at the University of Miami-Ohio for three seasons before transferring to Northern Michigan University for his senior season. In 110 collegiate games, Demsey garnered two goals and nine assists for 11 points to go along with his 112 penalty minutes.
The 6’2, 190-pound native of Harrison Township, Michigan, played junior hockey for three years with the Chippewa Steel and Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) before jumping to the United States Hockey League (USHL) and the Waterloo Blackhawks and Dubuque Fighting Saints.
