The Jacksonville Icemen signed forward Garet Hunt as the club’s first player on August 3rd. After captaining the Alaska Aces last year, the left winger comes to Jacksonville. The 29-year-old has scored 79 goals and notched 119 assists in 565 games in the ECHL.
The Icemen quickly found a reliable presence on the blue line with the addition of Mike Ratchuk. The South Buffalo, New York native has played all over the world in his young professional career. Drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2006, Ratchuk has recorded 181 points in 228 games in the ECHL.
Emerson Clark was the third player to be introduced on the 2017 Icemen roster. The 24-year-old brings speed and energy to attack. Despite his age, Clark is accustomed to the ECHL as this will be his fourth season in the league. The Ontario native will be looking to best his 15-goal season with the Tulsa Oilers last year.
In a move to add more depth on the left side, the Icemen signed Cameron Critchlow to the team. The 25-year-old has spent the past four seasons with the University of New Brunswick where he’s averaged 15.5 points per season.
The newest Icemen is Wacey Rabbit, a center from Alberta, Canada. This will be his second season in the ECHL after a stint with the Cincinnati Cyclones in 2011-12. Rabbit tallied 34 points in 35 games last year with the Val Pusteria Wolves.
