The Icemen announced the acquisition of Jan Kostalek from AHL affiliate, Manitoba Moose, on Tuesday. Kostalek will join the team in Brampton, Ontario ahead of Wednesday's game against the Brampton Beast at 11:00 a.m.
A fourth-round draft pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets, Kostalek (6'-1", 196 lbs) is in his third season of professional hockey. During the 2016-17 campaign, the Prague, Czech Republic native registered seven points (2G, 5A) in 60 games. In 112 career AHL games, Kostalek has 16 points (3G, 13A) and 40 penalty minutes with the Moose.
Prior to his time in Manitoba, Kostalek had an impressive three years in juniors with the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL. From 2012-15, the 22-year-old appeared in 160 games for the Oceanic. The Czech scored 17 times and tallied 71 assists for 88 points.
