Icemen Launch Broadcast Network; Team to Broadcast Away Games

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Icemen, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets and AHL’s Manitoba Moose are pleased to announce that fans cans now follow the team at home and on the road on the Jacksonville Icemen Broadcast Network. Fans can now catch all Icemen games (home & away) on a team broadcast streamed for free on Mixlr. beginning this Sunday (March 17) when the Icemen travel to Greenville at 3:00 p.m.  Fans will also be able to catch the Icemen broadcast feed for all road games on ECHL.TV.

Mixlr is a broadcast streaming service available online on your personal computer and available as an app on mobile devices. Mixlr may be downloaded in the app or play store on your mobile device. Mixlr offers fans a free stream of the action as well as a live in-game chat feature to use for game discussion.

Fans who wish to watch the game online on ECHL.TV may access the Icemen broadcast feed by selecting “away” on the task/menu bar on the game screen.  Note: those who access ECHL.TV through use of a firestick may not have this capability.

Veteran broadcaster Alex Reed will broadcast the remaining Icemen away games this season, while Arley Johnson will continue to call the Icemen home games.

Reed recently joined the team as Director of Communications and Broadcasting and has over 12 years of hockey media relations and broadcasting experience. Reed has spent the past nine years in the ECHL with the Norfolk Admirals, Florida Everblades and Wheeling Nailers.  Reed also worked three seasons for the Lewiston MAINEiacs (QMJHL) from 2007-2010.

This past January, Reed was selected to the television broadcast team for the CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic which aired on the NHL Network.  Reed graduated with a Master’s Degree in Public Relations from Marshall University in 2007.

“We are excited to have Alex join our team,” said team president Bob Ohrablo.  “We have enjoyed and appreciated the media attention we have received here in Jacksonville.  Alex’s experience will enable us to provide our media outlets with timely information.” “The addition of Alex ensures our fans they will no longer have to listen to the opposing team’s voice during road game broadcasts,” added Ohrablo.

Johnson is in his second season with the Icemen. Johnson has served in broadcasting roles with the Greensboro Generals (ECHL), New Haven Knights (UHL), Macon Whoopee (CHL), Nashville Nighthawks (CHL) and Mobile Mysticks (ECHL).
