JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Icemen, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets and AHL’s Manitoba Moose announced Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms with forward Jacob Benson.
Benson, 23, joins the Icemen after concluding his senior campaign with the top ranked NCAA program in the country, St. Cloud State University. The 5-11, 195-pound forward registered 56 points (27g, 29a) in 138 collegiate games with St. Cloud State from 2015-2019. The Grand Forks, ND native also played two seasons with the USHL’s Dubuque Fighting Saints totaling 58 points (24g, 34a).
Benson becomes the second addition to the Icemen’s roster on Tuesday. Earlier today, the team announced that Maxime Fortier was reassigned to the team from the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League.
Both Benson and Fortier are expected to be available tonight when the Icemen battle the Orlando Solar Bears at the Amway Center. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. Fans can tune into the game on Mixlr, and on ECHL.TV. There is also a game watching party tonight at Dick’s Wings & Grill (Arlington location).

The Icemen have clinched a spot in the 2019 Kelly Cup Playoffs! Single game tickets for the first two home games of the first round of the playoffs will go on sale on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Opponent and game date information will be announced at a later date.
