Icemen & Mayor Curry Announce Details for Guns 'n Hoses Game

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Icemen, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets and AHL’s Manitoba Moose, along with Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry announced today details regarding this Saturday’s Guns ‘n Hoses charity hockey game presented by CSX and First Watch to be played at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena beginning at 3:00 p.m.  Local law enforcement, fire fighters, EMTs and military personnel will participate in a hockey game to raise money for FOP and JFRD supported charities.  In addition, proceeds from the fire fighter game-worn jersey auction and 50/50 raffle throughout the day, will benefit the family of JFRD’s Brian McCluney for long-term support.

Thursday afternoon’s announcement came at a City Hall press conference.  Among the attendees were Mayor Lenny Curry, Icemen President Bob Ohrablo, Fraternal Order of Police Union (FOP) First Vice President Randy Reaves and Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department (JFRD) Treasurer Chuck Baldwin.

The Annual Guns ‘n Hoses hockey game will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 14).  The Fire Fighters team jerseys will be available for auction at the game with the proceeds supporting the McCluney family.  Later that evening, the Icemen will play division rival the Orlando Solar Bears at 7:00 p.m.  Proceeds from the 50/50 raffle at both games will also go to the McCluney family.  A ticket purchased for the Icemen game will permit fans to attend the Guns ‘n Hoses game as well.

Brian McCluney served Jacksonville Fire & Rescue for six years.  On August 16, 2019 he and Virginia fire fighter Justin Walker embarked on a fishing outing off Port Canaveral but never returned home.  Their boat was never recovered despite ten days of an extensive search.

Fans may also support FOP and JRFD supported charities by purchasing their Icemen game tickets directly through the following link www.jaxicemen.com/gnh2019

A portion of the proceeds from each ticket purchased through the link will benefit these supported charities.

“Saturday’s Guns ‘n Hoses event is a perfect representation of the community coming together to support a great cause while recognizing our hometown heroes,” said Mayor Lenny Curry. “The Icemen have always been committed to giving back to the communities of North Florida, and we thank them for setting up a fun and meaningful event for the City of Jacksonville.”
